SMOKE DETECTORS AND LEGISLATION

Under the Morange law, the installation of a smoke detector has been mandatory since March 2015 for all kinds of housing. If the house in question is rented out, it is the landlord's duty to install a smoke detector for the benefit of tenants, or to reimburse the device that tenants have installed at their own expense. As motorhomes and caravans are also dwellings, this law also applies to them, whether they are owner-occupied or rented out to holidaymakers. Your caravan, van or motorhome must be fitted with smoke detectors that comply with standards and are in working order, and a fire extinguisher with an up-to-date validity date.

If you fail to comply with these safety precautions, the campsite management reserves the right to ask you to leave.
